“You will not make sense of this world until you understand that everything is between us”… - Y.S.

Limited edition cobalt shirt with silver ink, made in collaboration with Yusuf Siddiqui and Sarah Hakani, for a forthcoming compilation album on Everything Between Us by Yusuf. EBU is a newly launched project of his that explores people’s connections to their built environments (aka all human-made surroundings, like parks, neighborhoods, energy structures, etc). 

The compilation, available soon on Bandcamp, features work by Baguettes for Faguettes, Bamban, DEATHRAYZ, Demmy, Jaylen Strong, Kambaba Jasper, LC, Mimi Zhu & Shahrez Syed, Sydfalls, and myself (raver jinn). We were all prompted by Yusuf to create a track reflecting a relationship we have to our surroundings.

The tee features collaged “mycelial suns” by Sarah Hakani, constructed entirely from characters of Sarah’s grandmother’s name, tracing the space between them after Sarah’s grandmother’s passing. The text, written by Yusuf, reads: 

Front - “1. particles shiver in the ecstasy of the unknown, 2. the wave and length moulded over millenniums, 3. unaware of the frequencies that follow. / you will not make sense of this world until you understand that everything is between us / the sky emitted a resonance that matched the cadence of my heartbeat / a vibration ran through the sands enveloping the entirety of my being ”

Back - “Will my existence reverberate around the universe long after I am gone? / Through encouraging use of sonic field recordings and sounds foraged alongside one’s environment, EBU is bringing together artists to mould a soundscape that transports the listener into each creator’s unique world”

Sleeves - Artist names above + “Everything Between Us” 

The front features imagery of a galaxy and an expansive sand dune, the back depicts imagery of earth’s magnetic fields, kids on a jungle gym, and a building transforming into an ear and sound waves. The sleeves feature rocks stacked in the shape of a mirror, a mushroom-shaped house, and kids building a sandcastle.
